PAGS-701: All the Agenesis: Evidence Based Diagnosis and Management of Various Obstructive Mullerian Anomalies
Date & Time
Sunday, November 17, 2024, 9:15 AM - 11:15 AM
Description

This course provides a comprehensive review on the diagnosis, treatment, and considerations surrounding management of variations of Mullerian agenesis and obstructive Mullerian anomalies including distal vaginal agenesis, cervical agenesis, utero-vaginal agenesis, and obstructive vaginal septum. Diagnosis and management recommendations for non-obstructive and obstructive Mullerian anomalies have drastically changed over the years with advancement in technologies and surgical approaches. This course will demonstrate up-to-date diagnostic criteria for Mullerian anomalies involving agenesis and outflow obstruction, recommendations for treatment, and discuss considerations surrounding surgical management. Using high-quality evidence and video presentations, we will demonstrate vaginoplasty techniques and management of various obstructive Mullerian anomalies. We will also review appropriate workup for pre-operative optimization and discuss how to counsel and manage these patients postoperatively.

Learning Objectives: After attending this session, the participant will be able to: 1) Determine the appropriate workup for correctly diagnosing distal vaginal agenesis, cervical agenesis, variations of uterine vaginal agenesis, and other obstructive anomalies; 2) Choose the appropriate individualized patient counseling and surgical management for these various anomalies; and 3) Describe various advancements in technologies and future research considerations for management of obstructive Mullerian anomalies involving the uterus, cervix, and/or vagina.
