Jennifer E. Dietrich MD, MSc is a Tenured Professor in the Department of OB/GYN and Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine. She is the Fellowship Director and Division Director for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology. She has been the Chief of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology at Texas Children’s Hospital since 2007, and served as Medical Staff President of Texas Children’s Hospital 1/2021-12/2021. She grew up in Pocatello, ID, but education and academic employment led her out of the Rocky Mountains. She completed her undergraduate training with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology at Pacific Lutheran University. She obtained her Medical Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed residency in OB/GYN at Baylor College of Medicine and went on to complete her Fellowship in Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology and concurrently completed a Masters of Public Health and Clinical Investigation at the University of Louisville in 2006. She remained on faculty at the University of Louisville for 1 year and then she was recruited back to Baylor College of Medicine in 2007, working to build the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology program from that time forward. Since 2009 she has been the Co-Director of the Young Women’s Bleeding Disorder clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital and served on a number of committees for the Department of OBGYN, Department of Surgery, Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Hospital. She has trained 26 fellows to date and has published >140 manuscripts and 25 book chapters, serving as Editor for 2 of these medical textbooks. She has many research interests for which she has received funding, developed patents and expanded outcomes research for the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Division. She is internationally known in her field and has been invited to speak nationally and internationally on topics related to congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract, bleeding disorders, ovarian cysts and masses and ovarian torsion in children and adolescents. She has been a member of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology (NASPAG) for nearly 2 decades and has been involved in many leadership roles: Education Committee Chair, NASPAG Board, ABOG Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Focused Practice Committee, NASPAG Ad Hoc Coding Committee, was a past NASPAG Annual Clinical and Scientific Program Meeting Chair and a NASPAG Past President, completing her term in 2018. Additionally, she currently served as the Associate Editor of Gynecology for the Journal of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology for 14 years until July 2020. Finally, she has been fortunate to be a part of the development of an MOC program focused on Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology with ABOG as well as part of the committee to develop the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology Focused Practice Examination at ABOG, which launched the first exam for the specialty in 2018. She been an advocate for her field, her colleagues and her trainees, but also an advocate for clinical excellence and education of her patients. She co-leads the GIRLS ELEVATED program offered annually to local teens and tweens in the Houston community, educating about reproductive health and safety.
