Dr Magrina completed a residency in OBGYN at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN in 1977. He completed a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the Univ. of KS Medical Center, KC, KS in 1980. He was Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Univ of KS and Univ of Missouri, KC, MO until 1987. He then became Chair of the Gynecology Department at the Mayo Clinic in Arizona until 2015. He subsequently served as Director of Gynecologic Oncology followed by Director of the MIGS fellowship. He serves as Emeritus Consultant at the Mayo Clinic Arizona, Phoenix, AZ. He developed the robotic surgery program at Mayo Clinic Arizona in 1997. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, book chapters and three books. He has performed numerous live surgeries, and has given numerous presentations at national and international meetings. He developed a retractor and specialized instruments for vaginal surgery, and a cervical cup for laparoscopic and robotic hysterectomies.
