During this debate, panelists will discuss advantages and disadvantages of electrosurgical and electromechanical tools for tissue management during hysteroscopic surgery. Areas of debate will include mechanisms of action, resource availability, patient safety, ease of use, and required skills. Each panelist’s perspective will aim to convince audience members to exclusively adopt their mode of surgery. Panelists will share their experience and perspectives as well as evidence from supporting scientific literature.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, the participant will be able to: 1) Discuss the rationale for utilizing one mode of tissue management over the other in particular clinical scenarios; 2) Describe the mechanism by which each mode of operates; 3) Develop strategies to optimize patient safety during hysteroscopic surgery; and 4) Interact with hospital administrators to expand or adapt their hysteroscopy program.
