Description: This session will showcase contemporary advances in robotic gynecologic surgery through the experience of leading surgeons from China and international collaborators. Focused lectures and surgical videos will demonstrate how evolving robotic technologies, novel access strategies, and precision surgical techniques are expanding minimally invasive treatment options for complex benign gynecologic disease, deep infiltrating endometriosis, gynecologic oncology, pelvic floor disorders, and congenital Müllerian anomalies.
Faculty will present advanced robotic approaches to deep infiltrating endometriosis, with emphasis on complex pelvic anatomy, bowel involvement, ureteral dissection, and nerve- and organ-preserving surgery. The program will also address strategies to enhance oncologic safety during robotic single-site surgery for cervical cancer, including tumor containment and minimization of tumor exposure. Emerging technologies will be highlighted through presentations on robotic telesurgery, robotic vNOTES, and evolving Chinese single-port robotic platforms.
A series of focused surgical videos will illustrate challenging and innovative applications of robotic surgery, including single-port sacrocolpopexy, precision bowel endometriosis excision, fertility-preserving adenomyomectomy with reversible uterine artery occlusion, reconstructive metroplasty for a unicornuate uterus with a functional noncommunicating horn, extensive retroperitoneal lymph node involvement by endometriosis, and single-port robotic hysterectomy for a giant uterus.
By integrating surgical strategy, advanced anatomy, emerging technology, and complex case management, this session will provide a practical and forward-looking perspective on how robotic surgery can enhance precision, preserve organ function, extend the boundaries of minimally invasive surgery, and facilitate innovation and international collaboration in gynecologic surgery.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to: 1) Apply advanced robotic surgical principles to complex gynecologic disease, including deep infiltrating endometriosis involving the bowel, ureter, pelvic sidewall, retroperitoneum, and pelvic nerves, with emphasis on precision dissection and organ- and nerve-preserving strategies; 2) Evaluate innovative robotic approaches that expand minimally invasive access and surgical capability, including robotic vNOTES, single-port and single-site surgery, robotic telesurgery, and emerging Chinese robotic platforms for hysterectomy, pelvic reconstruction, and complex gynecologic procedures; 3) Describe fertility-, function-, and safety-preserving robotic strategies for challenging gynecologic conditions, including reversible uterine artery occlusion during adenomyomectomy, reconstructive metroplasty for Müllerian anomalies, pelvic floor reconstruction, and oncologic techniques designed to minimize tumor exposure and 4) Assess how robotic technology can extend the boundaries of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery in uncommon and highly complex clinical scenarios, including extensive retroperitoneal endometriosis, bowel deep endometriosis, giant uteri, and congenital uterine anomalies, while recognizing opportunities for future technological development and international collaboration.
