Description: 

Hysteroscopy remains the gold standard for evaluation and treatment of intrauterine pathology. As office-based and ambulatory hysteroscopic procedures continue to expand, gynecologic surgeons must develop a strong foundation in equipment setup, fluid management, instrumentation, and operative techniques to safely and efficiently manage patients.

This hands-on postgraduate course is designed to provide participants with practical experience in fundamental principles of diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy. Through expert-led simulation stations, participants will learn hysteroscopic setup, cavity access, fluid management, office hysteroscopy, tissue removal systems, and resectoscopic techniques. Short case-based discussions at each station will reinforce clinical decision-making and troubleshooting strategies that can be immediately implemented in practice.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 1) Optimize appropriate setup and performance of office and operative hysteroscopy; 2) Apply principles of safe fluid management and recognize strategies to prevent hysteroscopic complications; 3) Utilize hysteroscopic tissue removal systems for management of intracavitary pathology; 4) Incorporate resectoscopic techniques for treatment of intrauterine lesions; and 5) Integrate contemporary hysteroscopic technologies and surgical techniques into office and ambulatory surgical practice to improve efficiency and patient safety.

Course Design

Participants will be divided into five groups; each group will rotate through five simulation stations, for 18 minutes each for a total of 90 minutes. Every station will include:

• 3 min focused didactic review and clinical case discussion

• 15-minute hands-on simulation experience
