Description:
This course will provide a practical and evidence-based overview of the vaginal surgical principles that underpin safe and effective vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES).
The course will begin with essential vaginal anatomy, patient selection, vaginal entry and vaginal hysterectomy principles before progressing to vNOTES-specific operative strategies. Faculty will discuss the current evidence for vNOTES hysterectomy, advanced and emerging indications, prevention and management of complications, and practical approaches to troubleshooting difficult surgical scenarios.
Through focused presentations, operative videos and case-based discussion, participants will develop a structured approach to integrating established vaginal surgical principles with contemporary vNOTES practice.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 1) Describe the vaginal anatomy, surgical entry techniques and vaginal hysterectomy principles that form the foundation of safe vNOTES surgery; 2) Select appropriate patients for vNOTES using clinical, anatomical and procedural considerations, while recognizing relative contraindications and risk factors for operative difficulty; and 3) Apply practical strategies to prevent, recognize and manage complications and troubleshoot challenging vNOTES cases.
