Description: This course endeavors to approach the management of uterine fibroids, with a focus on aligning surgical decision-making with patient priorities, fertility goals to optimize long-term outcomes. Participants will gain insight into preoperative treatment strategies and counseling of all options, intraoperative pitfalls and management, and surgical decision making. By the end of the course, participants will be prepared to make strategic surgical decisions in complex scenarios and improve both surgical and reproductive outcomes through thoughtful, collaborative, patient-centered care.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Develop a framework to counsel patients on fertility sparing options regarding fibroid treatment;
- Discuss patient centered approach to counseling regarding fibroid management; and
- Describe strategies to approach complex fibroid surgical situations.
