Dr. Jensara Clay is a dedicated educator, physician and surgeon. She completed her medical school education and residency training at UCSF. She went on to practice general OBGYN at Johns Hopkins before completing her fellowship in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. She is dedicated to advancing the field of minimally invasive gynecologic surgery and to ensuring that women are fully informed about their disease processes as well as the full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical treatment options. Her work focuses on reducing delays in diagnosis and improving timely access to surgical interventions for patients with complex gynecologic surgery needs including those with pelvic pain, endometriosis, fibroids, abnormal bleeding and infertility. She is committed to providing patient-centered care that restores quality of life and supports women in achieving their fertility goals. Currently, Dr. Clay serves as the Residency Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Howard University. In this role, she is deeply committed to advancing graduate medical education, fostering resident development, and promoting surgical excellence. Passionate about equity and access to care, Dr. Clay provides compassionate, high-quality care to underserved populations, reflecting a career-long commitment to addressing disparities. Dr. Clay brings to this work a long-standing dedication to teaching. Her career in education began well before medical school. Since then, she has continued to build a distinguished track record in medical education, holding leadership roles in medical student education, contributing significantly to curriculum development, mentorship, and learner success. Dr. Clay is known for a dynamic and engaging teaching style that fosters curiosity, skill development, and professional growth.
