Housing Fraud Alert
AAGL is not working with outside entities to make hotel room reservations for the Global Congress. AAGL hotels will not be calling you to help you make a reservation — any solicitation like that is a scam. Follow the link that is provided during the registration process to take advantage of the discounted rates. Reservations should be made only by using the online link which will be provided. Solicitations by outside organizations to book hotel rooms could imperil your personal information and result in problems with your reservation. If you receive communications from anyone other than AAGL Staff or the hotel related to your reservation, please contact Gerardo Galindo at AAGL immediately via email to ggalindo@aagl.org or by phone at 714-503-6205.
All AAGL annual meeting registration and housing emails will come either from AAGL (aagl.org) or Spargo (spargoinc.com). Please be vigilant if contacted by any other company or service.
Room pirating is a practice carried out by third-party companies that act as travel agencies, wholesalers, or destination management companies to solicit attendees for room reservations for other organizational meetings.
Deceptive tactics used by pirate registration and housing companies include:
- Adding processing fees or taxes when registering for the meeting and requiring payment via PayPal.
- Illegally using AAGL's name and/or logo to falsely represent themselves as being affiliated with AAGL.
- Informing attendees and exhibitors that the AAGL hotel room block is sold out and that if you do not book with them immediately, you may not get a room.
- Distributing forms or promotional materials that appear to be issued by AAGL.
- Non-delivery of promises to customers (e.g., when customers arrive, reservations are sometimes non-existent or the hotels are not conveniently located).
If you receive communications from anyone other than AAGL Staff, the hotel or Spargo related to your reservation do NOT give your financial information to this company and contact Gerardo Galindo at AAGL immediately via email to ggalindo@aagl.org or by phone to Gerardo Galindo at 714-503-6205.
