Date & Time
Tuesday, November 19, 2024, 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM
Description

This course will explore key surgical fertility preservation techniques that will allow minimally invasive surgeons to help patients facing fertility-harming medical treatment preserve their fertility and then restore fertility after treatment. Each year thousands of females of reproductive age are impacted by cancer and other conditions requiring chemotherapy or radiation treatment. This course will comprehensively review techniques for key fertility preservation procedures: ovarian tissue cryopreservation with subsequent transplantation, ovarian transposition and uterine transposition and fixation. Participants will receive an in-depth overview with video training for these evolving techniques. Participants will not only acquire the skills needed to perform these advanced fertility preservation procedures, but also gain a thoughtful understanding of their clinical applications to allow for proper patient selection and comprehensive patient counseling.

Learning Objectives: After attending this session, the participant will be able to: 1) Apply surgical techniques to perform ovarian tissue transplantation after ovarian tissue cryopreservation and ovarian transposition prior to radiation treatment; 2) Utilize methods to perform uterine transposition to protect the uterus from radiation damage and learn about strategies to develop a program to offer this procedure; and 3) Select appropriate patients that would benefit from fertility preservation surgical techniques and facilitate collaborative fertility preservation care.
