Speaker Bio
I currently serve as the Director of University of North Carolina's Division of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery and the Fellowship Director of our Complex Benign Gynecology training program. I am a clinician-scientist with extensive expertise at the intersection of neurobiological mechanisms and therapeutic interventions for chronic gynecologic conditions in women. As a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN) with subspecialty training in MIGS and pain management, I bring a comprehensive background in clinical research spanning retrospective large dataset analyses, quantitative and qualitative human studies. In addition to my clinical research, I am deeply committed to translational innovation that addresses critical gaps in women's health care. As Co-Executive Director of FastTraCS, UNC's medical device innovation hub, I lead efforts to translate clinical insights into tangible solutions for patient and provider wellbeing. My role bridges clinical expertise with product development, conducting human factors validation studies, providing end-user insight, and ensuring designs meet real-world clinical needs. By combining rigorous clinical research with practical innovation, I aim to create sustainable, evidence-based solutions that improve outcomes for both patients and healthcare providers.
