Personalized Care for Endometriosis - From Diagnosis to Treatment

Presenters
Frank F. Tu, MD
Sukhbir Sony Singh, MD
Noor Dasouki Abu-Alnadi, MD

Delays in diagnosis and management of endometriosis and pelvic pain negatively impact affected individuals, their families, and the health care system. However, the approach to managing endometriosis requires a personalized approach that considers the individual's presentation, examination, and imaging findings.  Each patient should be approached with a unique evaluation that is sensitive to their past experiences and treatment history.  Building networks to help evaluate patients, including expert imaging, as well as to treat patients is essential.  Each patient will have a unique care plan that should aim to address their personal goals, the conditions diagnosed or suspected and utilizing the assistance of appropriate health care partners for each case.

Objectives:
1. Describe the impact of delayed diagnosis of endometriosis related pelvic pain
2. Develop an approach to evaluation and management of patients with complex benign gynecologic presentations
3. List the options for management of endometriosis based on the patient presentation and burden of disease
4. Identify challenges in your practice and how to incorporate strategies to improve access to diagnosis and care for endometriosis patients.
