Professor Mueller completed his medical diploma in Bern, Switzerland in 1992. He became board certified in Gynecology and Obstetrics in 1997, before undertaking a research fellowship at the Center for Reproductive Sciences at the University of San Francisco, USA. In 2001 he returned to the University of Bern. He obtained his Professorship there in 2007 and became Head of the Department of Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology and Managing Co-Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Professor Mueller has published 15 book chapters and more than 300 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has presented more than 600 lectures at national and international scientific meetings, and is a member of a number of organisations such as the Endometriosis Society, the European Endometriosis League, and the European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy. Most notably, he served as Chairman of the European Endometriosis League from 2007 to 2010 and was founding Secretary of the Association of Endoscopic Gynecology SGGG. In addition to serving as a board member of the European Endometriosis League, he is also Scientific Secretary of the Association of Oncology SGGG and, since 2010, President of the Foundation Board of the Endoscopy Training Center Swissendos. Since 2018 he has been a member of the Committee of the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics, a society of which he was President from 2023 to 2025.
