Speaker Bio
Dr. Elise Courtois is the Director of the Single Cell Biology Laboratory at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, where she leads a cross-campus team specialized in advanced single-cell, spatial omics, and high-content screening technologies to the research community. In addition, Dr. Courtois leads a research group focused on translational women's health, with a particular emphasis on endometriosis. Her team applies cutting-edge technologies—including spatial multi-omics and 3D functional modeling—to uncover key mechanisms driving this complex and underfunded disease. Notably, her lab has established single-cell and spatial atlases of endometriosis lesions, revealing the role of neuro-immune interactions in lesion architecture and pathobiology. Dr. Courtois is also the co-founder and Director of EndoRISE, a state-funded initiative she co-leads with UConn Health and the OB/Gyn Department. EndoRISE integrates research, education, science policy, and public awareness to transform how endometriosis is understood and addressed, aiming to bridge scientific innovation with broad public health impact.
