14002: Oncology and Adnexal Masses

Saturday, November 14, 2026
8:00 am - 10:00 am

Room: 310

Description:

The accurate characterization of adnexal masses remains one of the most challenging and clinically relevant areas of gynecologic imaging. The introduction of standardized ultrasound terminology, validated risk prediction models, and structured reporting systems has significantly improved diagnostic performance and patient triage. This postgraduate course will provide participants with a comprehensive and practical overview of the current approach to adnexal lesion assessment, integrating ultrasound and MRI-based risk stratification tools with evidence-based management pathways.

The course will review the role of O-RADS Ultrasound and O-RADS MRI in lesion characterization, discuss the major achievements and future perspectives of the IOTA group in advancing ultrasound diagnosis of adnexal masses, and explore the emerging contribution of artificial intelligence to clinical decision-making. Particular emphasis will be placed on identifying patients who can be safely managed conservatively, those requiring referral to expert ultrasound centers, and those who should be referred to gynecologic oncology units.

Learning Objectives: After attending this session, the participant will be able to: 1) Understand the principles and clinical applications of contemporary imaging-based risk stratification systems for adnexal masses, including O-RADS US, O-RADS MRI, and IOTA models; 2) Apply evidence-based diagnostic and management algorithms to optimize patient triage and determine when referral to gynecologic oncology is indicated; and 3) Evaluate the potential role of artificial intelligence in improving diagnostic accuracy, reproducibility, and clinical workflow in adnexal mass assessment.
