Description: Urogynecology Call 101 is a practical, case-based postgraduate course designed for early-career gynecologic surgeons who are cross-covering urogynecology call or managing urogynecology-related urgent and emergency presentations. As minimally invasive gynecologic surgeons increasingly provide shared or backup call coverage, confidence in recognizing, triaging, and safely managing common urogynecologic issues is essential for patient safety and outcomes-driven care. This course will focus on what matters on call—not comprehensive subspecialty training. Through real-world scenarios, participants will learn how to evaluate common postoperative concerns, urinary retention and obstruction, mesh- and sling-related complaints, pelvic pain and bleeding, and other high-anxiety presentations encountered in the emergency department or after hours. Emphasis will be placed on initial assessment, red-flag recognition, appropriate workup, and knowing when to observe, intervene, or escalate care.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Identify concerning postoperative symptoms and red-flag findings following stress urinary incontinence procedures that require urgent evaluation, management or escalation of care;
  2. Differentiate expected postoperative findings from complications following vaginal and laparoscopic prolapse repairs when managing after-hours presentations; and
  3. Manage common office-based urogynecology call issues, including post–onabotulinumtoxinA urinary retention, pessary-related concerns, medication management, etc.
