844: Refining Reproductive Healthcare Decisions With Real-Time Ultrasound

Saturday, November 14, 2026
8:00 am - 10:00 am

Room: RM312

Chairs: Mathew Leonardi, Sophia N. Palmer

Faculty: Mathew Leonardi, Sophia N. Palmer, Caterina Exacoustos

Description: Real-time transvaginal ultrasound is no longer a confirmatory test. In contemporary reproductive care it is a decision-making tool that directly shapes diagnosis, counseling, procedural planning, and outcomes. This two-hour SIG post-graduate didactic course provides a structured, evidence-informed approach to using ultrasound findings consistently and confidently in daily clinical practice, spanning early-career fundamentals through advanced interpretive and procedural applications. Each lecture is designed to translate current evidence into practical workflows, with a final audience-centered Q&A panel to consolidate learning and address real-world implementation challenges.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to:

  1. Apply a standardized real-time transvaginal ultrasound scanning protocol (including image optimization and documentation) to obtain diagnostic-quality images and reduce inter-operator variability;
  2. Diagnose adenomyosis using accepted ultrasound criteria and integrate the findings into patient counseling and reproductive decision-making, including implications for fertility and outcomes; and
  3. Use targeted ultrasound evaluation to guide procedural planning in reproductive care, including hysteroscopic surgery planning and ultrasound-based assessment of tubal status and patency.
