455: Hemostatic Dissection: The Missing Link to Surgical Mastery

Description: Effective hemostasis begins before bleeding occurs. It depends on exposure, tissue handling, knowledge of surgical planes, appropriate energy selection, and the ability to maintain control when anatomy is distorted.

This course will explore hemostatic dissection as a fundamental component of surgical mastery in minimally invasive benign gynecology. The program will combine foundational principles, energy selection, robotic surgery, endometriosis surgery, and advanced strategies for fibrotic and reoperative pelvic procedures.

The course is designed to emphasize prevention, precision, functional preservation, and structured management of complex surgical scenarios.

Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 1) Describe the interdependent relationship between space, tissue tension (including differential tension), and speed during pelvic sidewall dissection and ureterolysis in advanced endometriosis; 2) Analyze how blunt dissection, traction, and differential tension create safe planes and reduce energy dependence in complex parametrial surgery; and Apply principles of tension modulation, differential tension, and dwell time management to minimize thermal spread and optimize surgical precision across laparoscopic and robotic platforms.
