Speaker Bio
Dr. Meriwether received a degree in Biomedical Sciences from Michigan Technological University in 2004. After her MD degree in 2008 Michigan State with extensive work in global medicine in Hispanic America and Africa, she knew she wanted to to work with underserved minority women and sought a residency in Washington, DC. As she wanted to work in an ethnically diverse, less dense population to complete her training, she completed a fellowship in Female Pelvic Surgery at the University of New Mexico in 2015. After 4 years practicing in Kentucky, she returned to New Mexico to renew her lifetime goal of serving this diverse community and learning about how health beliefs affect patient choice of therapy in pelvic floor disorders.  Her research and clinical work centers around autonomous patient choice in prolapse surgery, including uterine preservation options, novel incontinence treatments, and pelvic pain.
