Speaker Bio
Dr. Chelsea Manning is a second-year fellow in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (FMIGS) at Johns Hopkins University. She earned her medical degree from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, followed by residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, where she served as Chief of Surgical Education. Dr. Manning’s clinical and research interests focus on expanding access to high-quality gynecologic surgical care, with particular attention to healthcare disparities. She has presented nationally on racial disparities in minimally invasive hysterectomy and myomectomy. She also developed an “endometriosis photo field guide” to help surgeons more accurately identify, document, and describe atypical lesions. Her upcoming presentation at AAGL will feature a complex case of laparoscopic-assisted termination of a 14-week pregnancy complicated by an obstructive cervical fibroid. She has also delivered multiple video poster presentations at AAGL and SGS, covering topics such as postmenopausal endometriosis, a low-cost at-home laparoscopic training curriculum, a sustainable approach to pelvic peritonectomy for advanced endometriosis, and techniques to reduce chemical peritonitis following dermoid cystectomy. Following fellowship, Dr. Manning plans to pursue a career in academic medicine, where she aims to deliver expert surgical care, train the next generation of gynecologic surgeons, and continue advancing health equity in gynecologic surgery.
