Course Description: This MedTalk aims to provide a foundational understanding of artificial intelligence by presenting straightforward examples that illustrate core AI concepts. These examples will be contextualized with a brief overview of the historical developments that led to their creation. The objective is to demonstrate how these early innovations have shaped the current landscape of AI research and practical applications.
Learning Objectives: After attending this session, the participant will be able to: 1) Intuitively understand the basic mechanics of AI by seeing examples of how simple models work; 2) Critically engage with current media depictions and predictions of AI by learning about important time periods and AI developments from the 1950's until modern day; and 3) Recognize the ways in which AI appears in our everyday lives by hearing about its modern applications.
