Abstract
Study Objective: To demonstrate the common approaches to uterine septums and discuss the risks and potential benefits of each.
Design: n/a
Setting: High Volume Urban Academic Medical Center
Patients or Participants: Patients scheduled to undergo elective septoplasty
Interventions: 1) hysteroscopic scissors with morcellation 2) Hysteroscopic resectoscope.
Measurements and Main Results: Second look hysteroscopy and postoperative saline ultrasound
Conclusion: Both hysteroscopic septoplasty with “cold” scissors and bipolar resectoscopy are reasonable approaches to the symptomatic uterine septum. Each technique has different risk/benefit profiles that potentially may affect patient outcomes.
