Design: Educational Video
Setting: Operating room, patient in lithotomy position
Patients or Participants: A postmenopausal female who presented with a right sided 4cm broad ligament mass.
Interventions: A retroperitoneal approach to this broad ligament mass facilitated ease of dissection through decreasing main blood supply and a retroperitoneal identification and protection of the ureter.
Measurements and Main Results: Not applicable
Conclusion: We demonstrate a successful robotic assisted retroperitoneal approach to hysterectomy complicated by a large right sided broad ligament mass. Our retroperitoneal dissection technique demonstrated allowed for minimal blood loss through the reduction of main blood supply, identification and protection of the ureter and safe extraction of the mass.
