Design: Surgical video
Setting: Academic affiliated hospital
Patients or Participants: A 24-year-old G1P0010 female with intrauterine septum
Interventions: Hysteroscopic resection of intrauterine septum with hysteroscopic scissors and tissue removal system
Measurements and Main Results: On diagnostic hysteroscopy, a midline vertical uterine septum extending from the uterine fundus to the external cervical os was visualized. Hysteroscopic scissors were used for initial septum resection, but due to the thickness of the septum it was unsuccessful. A tissue removal system (Myosure) was utilized to complete the resection of the uterine septum. At the completion of the procedure, a normal endometrial cavity with visualization of bilateral tubal ostia was noted.
Conclusion: Intrauterine septum is the most common Mullerian duct anomaly. This video demonstrates varying surgical techniques which can be employed for successful septum resection.
