Abstract
Study Objective: An abdominal cerclage is indicated for refractory cervical insufficiency to reduce the risk of 2nd trimester loss and preterm birth. Laparoscopic abdominal cerclages have been shown to have similar success rates as open abdominal cerclages. The objective of this video is to demonstrate the use of peritoneal windows to improve visualization for an interval cerclage and to discuss considerations for placement of a gravid cerclage.

Design: Surgical Video

Setting: Academic tertiary care hospital

Patients or Participants: Surgical footage was obtained from one patient who presented for an interval cerclage and one patient who presented for a gravid cerclage.

Interventions: Laparoscopic abdominal cerclage

Measurements and Main Results: Laparoscopic abdominal cerclages were completed successfully in patients with non-gravid and gravid uteri with no intra-operative or post-operative complications. Our video demonstrates surgical techniques and considerations for both patient populations.

Conclusion: In conclusion, this video demonstrates techniques for improving visualization for laparoscopic cerclages in the non-gravid and gravid uterus.
