Course Description
This course explores surgical pelvic anatomy through the lens of contemporary minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, where innovation, precision, and functional preservation are paramount. Moving beyond static anatomical descriptions, the session integrates emerging concepts in pelvic vascular and neuro-anatomy, highlighting how evolving surgical paradigms—such as uterine transplantation, radical pelvic surgery, deep endometriosis procedures and nerve-sparing techniques—are reshaping the way anatomy must be understood and applied in practice. Through expert-led presentations, attendees will gain a dynamic, clinically relevant framework for translating advanced anatomical knowledge into safer, more effective MIGS procedures.
Learning Objectives
- To understand novel and evolving concepts in pelvic vascular anatomy and their surgical relevance in advanced procedures, including uterine transplant and complex MIGS.
- To recognise the three-dimensional organisation of visceral pelvic nerves and apply this knowledge to optimise nerve identification, preservation, and dissection during minimally invasive radical pelvic surgery.
- To integrate functional neuroanatomy and neurophysiology into surgical decision-making, enhancing nerve-sparing strategies and improving postoperative functional outcomes.
