The course will provide fundamental information needed to build and grow a practice focused on the management of pelvic pain. The course will review the challenges related to initially establishing a pelvic pain-focused practice, pearls for the maintenance of established pelvic pain clinics in both the academic and private practice settings and navigation of billing and coding for pelvic pain-related services. The course will also discuss strategies to minimize provider burnout and healthy maintenance of the patient/provider relationship in the setting of chronic pelvic pain.
Learning Objectives: At the end of this course, the participant will be able to: 1) Describe key steps to successfully develop a pelvic pain clinic in both academic and private practice settings; 2) Define strategies to incorporate research protocols into pelvic pain clinics; 3) Utilize different approaches to overcome coding and billing barriers in a pelvic pain practice; 4) Recognize the potential impact of stress associated with chronic pelvic pain management on both patients and providers; and 5) Manage and prevent provider burnout in pelvic pain clinics.
